  • Overview

    Provide leadership, direction and management to the company and local General Managers for the Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in administration of the Tanker Management Self-Assessment (TMSA) program
    • Develop and maintain corporate Safety Management System (SMS)
    • Assist VP HSSQE and VP Operations by providing oversight and coordination of the Administrative portion of the Ship Inspection Reporting Program (SIRE)
    • Support ongoing administration of Company Quality programs
    • Oversee the administration of the Management of Change process
    • Build and maintain relations with the oil company customers through visits and correspondence
    • Planning, conducting and following up on the Management Reviews
    • Administer the Masters Review process
    • Work with Operations and Engineering in administration of the Subchapter M Regulations
    • Oversee the development and publication of the monthly Safety Packet
    • Coordinate monthly Department input to the Company newsletter
    • Assist Director of Safety Systems and Security in investigations
    • Participate in Spill Management Team and environmental programs as assigned
    • Assist Director of Safety Systems & Security in the execution of their duties
    • Perform related duties as assigned by the VP of HSSQE

    Qualifications

    • Extensive knowledge of the oil transportation and maritime industry.
    • Experience in maintaining tugs and barges a plus.
    • Prior experience managing employees required.
    • Four (4) year college education in maritime or related studies preferredProficient in the English language and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to interpret and execute complex oral and written instructions.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to establish, maintain and work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
    • Must be physically fit to board barges and tugs.
    • Possess a valid TWIC card.
    • Must possess a valid state drivers' license for occasional use of company vehicle or rental car.
    • Valid Merchant Mariner's Document/Credential preferred

    Job Condition and Environment

    • Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor at all hours.

    Expected Hours of Work

    • Normal office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday however may be called out to work weekends and holidays as needed.
    • May be required to travel both domestically and internationally.
