  • Overview

    Manage engineering projects at the enterprise level fleet-wide for Harley Marine Services (HMS). Develop, track, and maintain schedule and budget of major project milestones for projects assigned. Projects will include overseeing the modifications of tugs and barges from the design phase to the shipyard completion phase, developing and implementing changes to vessel maintenance programs to include condition based and predictive maintenance, oversight of the management, distribution, and upkeep of all engineering documentation to include technical manuals, drawings, regulatory documentation, inventory management, etc.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage engineering projects at the enterprise level fleet-wide for HMS.
    • Develop, track, and maintain schedule and budget of major project milestones for projects assigned.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • One (1) year at sea maritime experience; tug and barge experience preferred.
    • Two (2) years of experience in the maritime industry.
    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred).
    • Ability to obtain TWIC card.
    • Knowledge of oil transportation and marine industry preferred.
    • Knowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment preferred.
    • Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
    • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
    • Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
    • Professional representative of Harley Marine Services to vendors
    • Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.
    • Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.
    • Valid State drivers' license.
    • Use of Computer; Microsoft Office, database programs.

    Job Condition and Environment

    • Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.

    Expected Hours of Work

    • Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    • Some travel to regional offices expected (<10%).
